After seeing the way Longlegs shook the world this past summer, I began considering other crime thrillers that have reached over into horror. Crime thrillers are driven by a crime being committed or a crime being investigated, often leading to a dark climax. These films typically include a significant amount of the antagonist’s perspective and/or the protagonist (usually a detective or other law enforcement) finding themselves personally entangled in the case. Influenced by thriller and horror films of prior decades and inspired by real-life terrors, crime thrillers return every so often to give audiences a real experience.
